You may be asking yourself, who is behind Adventure Jiu-Jitsu? Here is the story of Rox and Sarah's friendship, the heart and the brains that founded Adventure Jiu-Jitsu, LLC.
Rox and Sarah met at a jiu-jitsu competition on one fateful and stormy day in February 2015.
Rox and Sarah were the only blue belt women competing. Sarah needed to get in the mindset of MURDER, but Rox was all chill and chatty.
"Who is this talkative person?" was all Sarah could think.
From there, their friendship was born in two nerdy brains and hearts as geology and geography converged.

You see, Rox is a doctor of rocks, and Sarah is a doctor of places.
Since then, their friendship has survived through two of Sarah's research trips to China, as well as countless adventures: a 13er in the snow, rock climbing, New Year's Eve parties, cooking Persian food, game nights, barbecues, cycling up and down mountains in snowstorms, concerts, camping in Estes Park, trying to murder each other in multiple jiu-jitsu competitions, and even a botched trip to China.
In the summer of 2018, they took a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and biked an elevation gain of 3,000+ feet up Trail Ridge Road.
After biking down in a hail storm, they were unfazed and stopped at the YMCA of the Rockies on the way back to their campsite. It was immediately clear that it was the perfect venue and Adventure Jiu-Jitsu Camps was born. There is a reason they decided to call it Adventure Jiu-Jitsu. They are masters of adventures.
Finally, their PhDs have come in handy. They have the dedication, focus, and work ethic necessary to see this project through. Not only are they now both bad ass purple belts, but they also have the organizational skills of a type-A nerd. What else could you ask for?
Despite both being scientists who have engaged in multiple international research trips, and competed in countless jiu-jitsu tournaments, Adventure Jiu-Jitsu Camps are some of the most exciting and challenging projects they have undertaken. We can't wait for you to join us.
